UNESCO and UNWOMEN in collaboration with Radio Pakistan Quetta organized radio talk show to mark the World Radio Day 2016 in Balochistan

The radio talk show was participated by Mr. Zahid Saleem, Director General, and Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan along with representatives of the University of Balochistan, Radio Pakistan, UNWOMEN and Civil Society Organizations. The participants discussed the importance of radio as well as highlighted the most vulnerable groups in time of disaster and emergency situations. They informed that women, children and special people suffers a lot in emergency situations due to lack of communication. DG PDMA said that Radio is the most effective means of communication in disasters as its easily available and affordable by all segments of the society. The participants also realized that radio programmes in local languages are effective keeping in view the targeted region. They applauded UNESCO's role and support in organizing the radio talk show.
