|Islamabad - 6 May 2014: UNESCO Islamabad in collaboration with Federal Directorate of Education, Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD), Islamabad organized an advocacy walk at Jinnah Sports Complex, Islamabad to|
raise awareness on Education For All. This advocacy walk was one of the advocacy events on the celebration of Global Action Week, 4-10 May, 2014 all over the world. The walk was attended by more than 1200 participants, which include students, teachers, government functionaries, persons with disabilities, civil society organizations, NGOs/INGOs and media.
This year's theme of the Global Education Week is "Education and Disability" which is supplemented by the slogan "Equal Right - Equal Opportunity".
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Dr. Kozue Kay Nagata, Director/Representative UNESCO Islamabad applauded the efforts of CADD in the promotion of Inclusive Education in Islamabad Capital Territory. The event was graced by Prof. Muhammad Rafique Tahir, Joint Secretary (Education), CADD, who announced that Islamabad Capital Territory would be a role model for the entire country in implementing the Article-25-A in its true letter and spirit. A large number of persons with disabilities also participated in the advocacy walk in support of their right to education.
