International Literacy Day 2013, Sialkot

Sialkot - 7 Sept 2013: Bunyad Foundation celebrated International Literacy Day at BSS & Collage Bhagwal Awan in collaboration with UNESCO Islamabad. The programme started with the recitation of Holy Quran. Mr. Zahid Aslam
Qazi (District Coordinator) elaborated that why we celebrate this day in his welcome speech. He explained that how Bunyad's efforts raised awareness as well as literacy rate among the marginalized communities like Bhagwal Awan. He said that we cannot stand with pride among the other nations without achieving Millennium Development Goals as the Government of Pakistan has assigned to achieve within 2015.

Students presented Milly Naghma, with the determination to serve Pakistan being a good citizen. Meanwhile a mother of learner Mrs. Saba Razzaq expressed her views about the importance of female education. She disclosed that she is a former student of this school and now mother of two children. She emphasized on providing education especially to females because an educated woman is better mother than an illiterate one.

The guest participated in this program were Mr. Zahir ud Din Babar (Manager Admin BLCC LHR), Mr. Waqar Ilahi (M&E Officer BLCC LHR) Mr. Zulfiqaar Ali (EX Nazim), Mr. Agha Ashiq Hussain (Religious Scholar), Dr. Amjad Mughal, Parents, Community Members and students of BSS & Collage Bhagwal Awan.

At the end of event, Mr. Zahid Aslam distributed shields to the learners of 5th grade who were mainstreamed from non formal to formal system.
