Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)

 
Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) is first goal of Education For All. Since the launching of Dakar Framework of Action in April 2000, Pakistan has included Early Childhood Education in thrust areas of Education Sector Reforms (ESR) launched in 2001. UNESCO has been supporting policy dialogue on increased attention to early childhood education in Pakistan. UNESCO has supported forums for identification of issues and problems faced by this important sub sector of education. UNESCO is also extending assistance to relevant organization for capacity building of district level education managers in planning and management of ECE programmes.
 
 HIV/AIDS Prevention Education

World Aids Day Seminar
Young people and youth, who are considered most vulnerable to HIV/AIDS, form largest age group in Pakistan. About 34 million children and youth are studying in educational institutions. Therefore, there is a need to sensitize policy-makers to integrate HIV/AIDS Preventive Education in the school system.

UNESCO has been supporting workshops for training of teachers and education managers on AIDS Prevention Education at National and Provicial level.

UNESCO has helped Ministry of Education in development, production, and dissemination of advocacy and training material on HIV/AIDS Prevention Education, organization of training workshops and orientation seminars for various categories of educational personnel.
 
 Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)
ESD conference entitled "Learning to Live on Planet" was held in March, 2007. This 2 day conference includes focus group workshops, such as ESD and Formal Education, ESD and Civil Society, ESD and Media etc. This conference is to following the ESD orientation seminar held in 2005.

In addition, UNESCO Islamabad with a partner plans to carry out the curriculum analysis of teacher education on ESD. The curriculum will be analyzed from the following perspectives.
1. Fostering peace
2. Fighting against global warming
3. Reducing poverty gap
4. Fighting against the marginalization of women
5. Saving the society
6. Promoting the lifelong learning
