Launching of Audio Tour Guide for Exhibits in Pakistan Museum of Natural History

Islamabad - 13 March 2013: As part of continued support to Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH), UNESCO Islamabad handed over the audio tour guide to the Museum. This facility would serve to enhance the accessibility of scientific information and knowledge

for the visitors, especially for touring school students and kids. At the beginning, the commentary played through these devices would be in Urdu and English but later on regional languages would be introduced for the benefit of visitors from different regions.

Hasan Wasim Afzal, DG - PMNH in his welcome address appreciated the support of UNESCO. Dr. Kozue Kay Nagata, Director UNESCO Islamabad in her remarks emphasized the sustainability of the donated equipment, while promoting this technology as pilot-case for other museums to follow. She highlighted the depth and breath of interventions that UNESCO and Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) are doing together.

Prof. Dr. Manzoor Hussain Soomro, Chairman - PSF, in his address stressed upon the importance of integrating education and science with culture. He showed his satisfaction for the long-term partnership and support between PSF and UNESCO.

As part of the event, Director UNESCO Islamabad also gave 1500 copies of Disaster Master Game to support PSF - led Science Caravans.
