UNESCO and Pakistan Science Foundation commemorate the World Science Day for Peace and Development 2013

Islamabad, 21 November 2013: United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) host an event at the International Islamic University Islamabad to mark this year's World
Science Day for Peace and Development. Students and teachers of International Islamic University, Secretary for Ministry of Science and Technology and representatives of PSF and UNESCO participated in the event.

The theme chosen this year for commemorating the day is "Science for Water Cooperation" that urges sharing of knowledge, data, innovations and approaches to sustainable management of water.

UNESCO and PSF are working together to promote the global programmes in the Natural Science sector of UNESCO. The collaborative work on the Man and Biosphere programme, for example, has opened up opportunities for researchers and interested experts to showcase approaches to sustainable development through scientific interventions.

Speech and poster contest of students from different educational institutes further highlighted the importance of the day. The event was concluded after the distribution of medals and cash awards among the winning students for the slot of speech and posters competition by the chief guest, director UNESCO Islamabad, chairman PSF and renowned scientist, Dr. Ishfaq.
