If you’re planning to apply for a passport for your child in Pakistan, there’s an important update from NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) that parents must know about. The authority has recently introduced new rules for children’s passport applications to make identity records more secure and reliable.
B-Form No Longer Valid for Passport Applications
Under the new policy, the old B-Form will not be accepted for children’s passport applications anymore. Parents are now required to obtain a Child Registration Certificate (CRC) from NADRA before they can apply for their child’s passport. The CRC ensures that every child has a verified, individual identity in NADRA’s database, minimizing the chances of errors or duplication.

Family Registration Certificate (FRC) Gets Legal Recognition
NADRA has also upgraded the status of the Family Registration Certificate (FRC) by granting it legal value. This means the FRC can now officially be used in inheritance matters, court proceedings, and other legal processes—not just for general identification.
To make the process more transparent, NADRA has also updated the FRC format. The new version clearly lists different family structures, including:
-
Parents with children
-
Husband and wife with their dependents
-
Families where men have multiple marriages (each family listed separately)
What This Means for Families
These changes aim to simplify official procedures while making identity verification more secure and transparent. Parents who haven’t yet updated their child’s records are advised to visit their nearest NADRA center to get the CRC and updated FRC before applying for a passport.
